On March 1st, 2002, National Children's Hospital and National Ookura Hospital are merged and re-organized to be National Center for Child Health and Development (NCCHD), which is the 5th National Medical Center under the Ministry for Welfare, Labor and Health, Japan.
"National Research Institute for Child Health and Development" (NRICHD) is a division that takes charge of researches in NCCHD. Beside the administrator office, another division is National Children's Medical Center that takes charge of clinical practices.
